who doesn't want to wear the ribbon?

I'm a fan of ribbon. I admire it in stores and dream about taking my ribbon over to Martha's house where we would drink hot chocolate, giggle and make crafty things. That dream is enough to get me to buy the ribbon but Martha has yet to invite me over, so it sits in a drawer untouched.<br /><br />Christmas however is always a good excuse for a non-crafty person like myself to bring out the ribbon. I always have a hell of a time figuring out what to put on our mantel anytime of the year, let alone at Christmas. So I figure why not mix my mantel worries with my craft anxiety and my ribbon inferiority to make one big ball of holiday hysteria?! I swear I'm going to drive myself to drink.<br /><br />Wish me luck! Any ideas - ribbon, mantel or otherwise?<br /><br />Oh, and I'm almost done with my garage sale table. ~PAPER can be Pretty Too!!!~~

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Good afternoon my dear friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have recuperated from all that FOOD!!!! I actually am looking forward to having some leftovers for dinner tonight, it was SO GOOD!!!! I hate to BRAG:):) but I do make awesome stuffing and gravy:):):). Oh my tummy is growling. Joe and I have been working non stop all day getting all the outside Christmas decorations up. It was GORGEOUS today, 63 degrees!!!!! That NEVER happens, we usually are FREEZING doing the decorations. Now, Back to Thanksgiving. I decided that I needed to cut myself a break, so I purchased some PRETTY paper plates and napkins!!!! This is a FIRST in 44 years of marriage, believe me. I also bought Chinet to put under the paper plates for added strength. I figured with gravy and all that food the plate would need some support!!! So, here is my table. after dinner, all of our guests except my daughter and SIL got up and said, "we have to go now, we want to go SHOPPING"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noone even cleared a glass. I was so anxious to get to DECORATING for Christmas:):):) OH, I set up the card table to put the food on since the table would have been too crowded. ~Thanksgiving/ Birthday Table~

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">First of all and MOST importantly, I want to wish EACH and EVERYONE of you a Happy, blessed and grateful Thanksgiving. I hope you will be surrounded by family and friends and truly BE thankful for life's blessings. This is a true American holiday and one that brings us together to be grateful for all we have. On Sat. we hosted our son-in-laws 40th birthday dinner and the table for Thanksgiving will be VERY similiar. So this is one post to cover 2 dinners!!!! I used my BOUNTIFUL tablecloth that is covered with pumpkins, leaves, gourds etc. Then I placed a brown woven placemat, a rust colored charger, green dinner plate, punpkin dessert plate and a decorative pumpkin to top it all off!!!! ~Confetti Corn~

Hi everyone! Last night we had a birthday dinner for our SIL. He turned 40 so it was a milestone birthday! I wanted to make it as NICE as possible. I will share the table either tomorrow or tues. but wanted to share this recipe with you and will link to On The Mneu Monday at Stonegable and Foodie Friday at Designs by Gollum. Dave's favorite vegetable is corn so I had to "kick it up a notch". I have made this before and he really likes it so onto the menu it went! We also had FABULOUS filets, Joe's wonderful crab cakes, Mashed potato casserole,and macaroni and cheese. Tracy made the potato casserole and the mac and cheese. She also brought 2 cakes: one for Dave's birthday and one for our anniversary, which was a big surprise!!!! Here is the recipe and then I will share a few shots with you too!<br />                                       Confetti Corn<br />2 Tbls. good olive oil<br />1/2 cup chopped red onion<br />1 small orange bell pepper, diced<br />2 Tbls. butter<br />kernals cut from 5 ears of corn (4 cups) I used frozen corn and microwaved it for a few mins. first then drained it.<br />1 1/2 tsp. Kosher salt<br />1 tsp. freshly ground pepper<br />2 Tbls. julienned fresh basil, minced chives, and/or minced fresh parslwy (I used a combination os all 3 to make 2 Tbls.)<br />Directions<br />Heat olive oil in a large saute pan. Add the onion and saute for 5 mins. until the onion is soft. Stir in the bell pepper and saute 2 more mins.<br /> Add the butter to the pan and allow it to melt. Over medium heat add the corn, salt and pepper and cook stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 mins. Stir in the herbs and serve hot. This really is so good, I hope you will try it!
