~~~Hold my Hand~~~~

The other day, our dear KariAnne told a story. A story about love, and support, and the REAL meaning of love. It remended me that I have a story to tell too. I have been married to my hubby for almost 47 years now. NO ONE gave us 3 weeks. But we were in love, or what we thought was TRUE LOVE, at the time. Over these almost 47 years we have learned that REAL love is not in the dazzling moments, but the every day. Little things he does that say, "I love you", "I am HERE for you", and always will be. My Mom died in 1991, way too young...for both of us. I had taken care of her, in our house for the last 5 years. She was very ill and was admitted to the hospital so many times that one time in the cafeteria a lady asked me what department I worked in! I practically lived in that hospital. When she died my sister and I planned the funeral and I just could NOT bury her without saying something. I could not let her live her life and not have it acknowledged in some way. So I wrote a poem to read at the funeral. When the priest said I was to come up to the altar, my hubby walked beside me. He stood beside me at the podium and handed me this:<br /><br /><br />Hold my hand<br />Feel my strength<br /> Be stoic and brave<br /> DO IT FOR YOUR MOTHER<br /><br /><br /><br />THAT almost undid me but it also gave me the courage to DO IT. I was nervous, and weepy but got through my poem. We had had a rocky relationship, but I always loved her. Through it all I loved her and still do. I miss her and have many regrets about things I never said. But I realize I did the best I could. "When you know better, you do better". one room challenge - the bathroom edition week 5

I'm not going to lie, I had a bit of trouble typing '5' in the title there. Week five? Really? Oh good lord. (Catch up on <a href="http://thelittleblackdoor.blogspot.com/p/one-room-challenge.html" target="_blank">weeks 1 - 4 here</a>) That means I have six short days to wrap this sucker up. 140 hours. Enough numbers, lets talk about progress.<br /><br />As I <a href="http://thelittleblackdoor.blogspot.com/2014/04/small-home-big-style.html" target="_blank">mentioned yesterday</a>, this past week has been a huge challenge for me, and not just of the One Room variety. So what do you do when you are up against a big deadline and you're behind? That's right, you go out of town. The hubs and I had actually had this trip planned for months, but it couldn't have come at a better time. I left my world of chaos behind and enjoyed a few great days with friends. But before I left town, I was able to convince one of my contractor contacts to take pity on me. Now I just need to round up accessories that we've been accumulating over the past several weeks that are in no less than three different households and start to put this puzzle together.<br /><br />And lest you think I'm holding back on all the good stuff and just not showing you everything, there is nothing else to show. The sink, toilet, lights, faucets, light switches, everything else is sitting in my poor sister's dinging room just waiting to be installed. 140 hours people.<br /><br />This will indeed be a cliffhanger. Will I finish? Will there be anything to show? Will I be laughed off the internet? ~~~Cheery, Sunny, Yellow and White Table~~~

Our weather is all over the place right now. I am NOT complaining though because I am SO sorry for all those who are being devastated by the tornados and floods. But when it is gray and rainy outside I need to set a cheery table for inside! What is better than yellow!!?? I got this yellow and white tablecloth last year and hadn't used it so that is my base. I wanted a little texture on the table so am using the round, rattan chargers. I really wanted yellow and white astromeria for my flowers but couldn't find them. For Easter our daughter and Son-in-law brought me this beautiful hydrangea. And at the same time I had been looking (for a long time) for an olive bucket. However the REAL ones are VERY expensive and then Yvonne at Stone Gable reminded me that WALMART carried them!!!!! I had totally forgotten! So, I got online and ordered one right away. Until the weather starts to cooperate my hydrangea will live here!!! In the breakfast room, in my new "olive bucket". I love it and am going to age it so it looks a little more authentic. What day is this? What's my name again?<br /><br />My apologies for the <strike>radio</strike> web silence my friends, I hate to be off schedule. Last week I had more <a href="http://thelittleblackdoor.blogspot.com/p/one-room-challenge.html" target="_blank">One Room Challenge</a> drama, a husband who ripped his cornea (eww - but funny story) and a mom who went into the hospital unexpectedly and has had two surgeries since. Calgon, take me away!<br /><br />The good news is that the hubs is completely mended, my mom will hopefully be released later this week and the hubs and I were able to get out of town for the weekend (sans kids) for a lovely trip with old friends. (Thank god for trips planned months in advance).<br /><br />Now my stomach feels like I've done a million sit ups (can laughing for three days be considered exercise?) and my lilac bush is in full bloom. ~~~Copper Molds in the Kitchen~~~

While we were in Fl. I did manage to get to 1 antique store! When I spied these copper molds I grabbed them! Only one is vintage but they were a STEAL!!! I used to have a large collection of copper molds, pots, a colander etc. and gave them all to Goodwill!!!!!!!!!!!! I could KICK myself as I would love to have them all over the kitchen walls now. Oh well, live and learn, right? At the time I never knew we would be moving and I would have great walls to put them on! But I wanted to share with you what I got. Good morning!!! Today is a happy day for me because I am spending the day with my beautiful daughter! She has the day off and she asked me to spend the day with her!
